Simply Snoring Cures
Snoring is a common sleep disorder that can affect anybody at any age. It is not a respecter of persons, although men and overweight folks are more likely to suffer from it. However, it is important to know some simple snoring cures since it can sometimes prove to be a symptom of a more dangerous, underlying medical problem.
The underlying reason for snoring is obstruction of the nasal passage. It therefore makes sense to find ways to keep these airways as clear as possible to avoid the air turbulence that vibrate the soft tissues that are found there. It is this vibration that produces the irritating noises during sleep that annoys us so much.
There are many simple snoring cures that do a credible job at reducing the severity of the ‘attacks’. Some effective ones involve:
- Sleeping on the side, as opposed to the back,
- Keeping the head elevated as high as it is comfortable (if, that is, sleeping on the back is preferred),
- avoid overindulging in alcohol beverages,
- getting rid of the smoking habit, and
- losing weight.
These simple tips are all ways to stop snoring because they all help in opening the air passageways.
If these actions are to produce the desired results, however, old habits will have to be gotten rid of and new ones adopted. Unfortunately, experience has shown that this is not as easy to accomplish as it sounds. It is thus necessary to find alternative means of keeping the breathing passages open so that air will flow freely.
Other Snoring Cures
One alternative snoring cure involves employing the aid of nasal devices and nasal medications. If the main area of narrowing is the front part of the nose then breath-rite strips are a good option. These nasal strips open the anterior nasal valve thus increasing air flow. Research has shown that if this is the main or only area of narrowing, then the noisy episodes are reduced. However, it has also been shown that this is not usually the case.
The problem of swelling and/or irritation of the nasal lining are usually a result of allergies and other respiratory infections. Relief from these problems can be achieved with the use of nasal sprays. There are a variety of these sprays including saline irrigation sprays, nasal steroid sprays and nasal decongestants. They all help to relieve irritations and reduce swellings through their individual actions, thus providing much needed relief to the snorer as well as their unfortunate sleeping partners.
About Snoring Devices
There are hundreds of devices on the market today that provide alternative snoring solutions. Unfortunately, over and over again it has been proven that none of them truly address the underlying anatomical problems that cause snoring. For many sufferers simple snoring cures are not enough, however, and they may have to resort to more drastic measures to stop this irritating problem.
